Mercedes Unveils GLE 63 AMG
The SUV market is rapidly growing and popular among buyers, In order to cater fors this market Mercedes has more than six SUVs in their line, ranging from the compact GLA to the fullsize GLS, with some models getting an AMG treatment. The lastest Mercedes to get the AMG treatment is GLE which will be offered in two flavours the: GLE 63 (not available in SA) and GLE63s.
A 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged mild hybrid V8 engine is at the heart of the GLE, It produces 456kW (612hp) and 850 Nm of torque.The engine sends its power to all four wheels via a nine-speed automatic transmission and can send up to 100% of power to the rear wheels or distribute it evenly between the two axles, depending on the situation.
Mercedes claims the GLE63S will do 0-100 km/h in 3.8 seconds and a top speed of 280km/h.
Exterior design and styling
Being an AMG version the GLE63 gets cosmetics upgrades such as a large Panamericana grille, muscular bonnet, unique front and rear bumpers, sportier body trimmings, 21inch alloy wheels as standard.
The interior is no exepection to the AMG treatment, it gets a three-spoke AMG steering wheel with powertrain controls for added performance functionality, Nappa leather seats with AMG upholstery and badging on the front two chairs, carbon-fibre trims on the dashboard and door panels as well as ambient lighting with up to sixty-four different colours to choose from.
The GLE63S uses an updated MBUX infotainment system with unique AMG sports displays to show information like a g-force metre, specialised engine data, and lap timing.
