The Peugeot 5008 allure- A whole new dimension for SUVs
I have always wondered what it would be like to pilot a spaceship. Yup the Peugeot 5008 Allure 1.6 THP Auto7 seater was my spaceship for a week and oh boy we had fun.
A long distance trip was in the works to Umlazi Durban, (side note) did you know that it is the fourth largest township in South Africa after Soweto, Tembisa and Katlehong. Umlazi is the only township in the country that has its own registration plate, which is NUZ.
Alright back to the Peugeot 5008, apart from the driver, four fully grown adults and a teenager were quite comfortable. Peugeot offered a lot more than expected on this entry level 5008. Standard features include 18-inch alloy wheels, Tyre-pressure monitoring sensors, Hands-free tailgate, Auto headlamps and -wipers Daytime running lights, Dual-zone climate control Cloth/leather trim, Keyless entry, Parking sensors.
What shocked me the most apart from the cars steering wheel was the drive. On the open road its very smooth with good grip. Also at high revs you will hear that minimal engine noise. An element of sportiness dialled into the suspension is felt when you switch it to sports mode however there isn’t much difference to its standard mode. Noise/vibration and harshness are largely suppressed and the French family car exhibits impressive levels of refinement.
The 5008 Allure 1.6 THP Auto is powered by a 1.6-litre turbocharged (THP) 4-cylinder engine which delivers peak outputs of 121 kW and 240 Nm, fitted with a 6-speed automatic transmission. Throughout the test we averaged about 7.1l/100km.
As for its high-tech cockpit features a digital instrument cluster, Apple CarPlay/Android Auto &USB/Bluetooth connectivity kept us entertained throughout our trip.
The Peugot Allure 1.6 THP Auto7 seater is priced at R539,900 which comes with a 5 year/100 00 km service plan as well as a 5 year/100 00km Warranty
